Lead Oxide:
Red Lead
The lead oxide obtaimed has well defined specific
properties, which differ from the conventional features of
the oxide produced under other systems, because of its
special characteristics, its performance is excellent, both
in cold climates and tropical climates
Litharge :
Description: Lead(II) oxide, or litharge, is a yellow oxide
of lead of formula PbO, created by heating lead in air. It
can also be formed by heating lead(II) nitrate(V)
(Pb(NO3)2). It is used in the manufacture of paints and in
glass, as well as in vulcanization. A mixture with glycerine
sets to a hard, waterproof cement that has been used to join
the flat glass sides and bottoms of aquaria. Litharge is
amphoteric, meaning it reacts with acids to form Pb2+
and with bases to form plumbate(II)
Antimonial Lead (4%) :
Antimonial Lead Alloy contains 4% Antimony, 95.5% lead &
some other metals are available in small amount of
quantities.
Applications
-
Lead is very soft and ductile and it is normally used
commercially as Lead Alloys. Antimony, Tin, Arsenic,
Copper, and Calcium are the most common alloying elements
of Lead.
-
Lead Alloys used for shot contain up to Sb and (Arsenic)
As; those used for bullet cores.
-
Lead Alloy is used for Wheel Balancing Weights. The Lead
Alloy which is used for Wheel Balancing Weights is a
special configuration of Lead, Antimony and other metals.
